About Robert Pitkofsky

Robert Pitkofsky - formal portraitRobert L. Pitkofsky is a seasoned attorney who has practiced for over ten years in New York and New Jersey. Whether it has been litigating on behalf of a company in an employment dispute or working with an organization to protect its trademark in the marketplace, Robert has always focused on putting his client’s needs first in order to identify the least expensive way to resolve legal concerns. Throughout his legal career, Robert has secured impressive victories for his clients, both in the courtroom and across the negotiating table.  Robert has represented some of the largest as well as closely held companies in employment disputes and has successfully counseled them on how they could reduce risk while complying with ever-changing state and federal regulation. Robert is proud to be named to Rockland County's "Forty Under Forty", a program sponsored by the Rockland Economic Development Corporation.

"I am passionate about improving Rockland County through community action and service.  Through serving on numerous community boards, coaching Little League, or helping local businesses and non-profit organizations thrive, I believe that we can accomplish more when we work together than as individuals."

Robert also served as day-to-day legal counsel for the Anti-Defamation League. Robert counseled the agency on the business and legal risks and rewards on million dollar relationships with technology companies and venues. Robert conducted internal investigations and advised on numerous employer-employee-related issues, including overtime, employment discrimination, and employee leave. His interventions resulted in positive results with limited interruption to the operation of the agency. He successfully managed the agency’s substantial trademark and copyright portfolio, and established less risky fiscal and operational procedures throughout the agency. Robert guided ADL through several corporate governance issues that required coordination with government and internal business partners. ADL trusted Robert to provide advice on business and legal strategy in marketing, insurance, intellectual property, contracts, and employment because its leaders knew that he could be counted on to provide business savvy legal advice in an ever-changing climate.

Robert has always been a dedicated and loyal volunteer leader to a variety of community and charitable organizations.  Robert is proud to have been selected to participate in Leadership Rockland’s Class of 2012, a unique program dedicated to finding and training Rockland County’s next generation of community and civic leaders. He is engaged with his town and school district, having served on the advisory committee charged with an elementary school principal search as well as Clarkstown Central’s cost containment committee.  Robert serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the Helen Hayes Hospital Foundation.  Robert is leading a coalition of Clarkstown public school parents to develop the Clarkstown Arts Foundation.  He also proudly serves as a member of the Board of Trustees for New City Jewish Center.  As a member of the Board of Directors for the Jewish Federation of Rockland County, Robert serves as the chairperson for the Jewish Community Relations Council (“JCRC”), the advocacy arm of the Rockland Jewish community.  Before moving to Rockland County, Robert was a leader on a variety of community efforts, including as a governor-appointed representative on the New Jersey-Israel Commission which is focused on enhancing the cultural and economic relationship between New Jersey and Israel. Robert also served as the legal counsel/chairperson for Bonim: Builders for Bergen, an organization dedicated to rehabilitating lower income housing and community facilities.

Robert graduated from Binghamton University, State University of New York where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science, with honors. He earned his law degree from Rutgers University School of Law, where he served as an editor of the Rutgers Journal of Law and Religion.  He also earned a prestigious Raimondo Fellowship through the Eagleton Institute of Politics at Rutgers University. After law school, Robert served as appellate law clerk to the Honorable Sylvia B. Pressler, the Presiding Judge for Administration for the Superior Court of New Jersey, Appellate Division. Robert is admitted to practice law in New York and New Jersey.  He is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts of New Jersey and the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.

Robert is an attorney and small business owner with over twelve years of experience representing business owners, not-for-profits, and individuals in a wide range of practice areas.

Robert is proud to serve on the board of directors for numerous not-for-profit organizations in Rockland County. Robert understands the tremendous value that the not-for-profit community brings to Clarkstown. After commuting for several years into midtown, Robert started his own practice in order to see his kids more often and engage more in his community. He believes that public service is merely an extension of community service/leadership and is excited to engage voters in a discussion about issues that affect the future of our Town.

Most importantly, Robert is a proud husband and the father of three wonderful children.
